Pilot Pals program facilitates relationship between elderly, UP WBB players

If you’ve ever gone to a Portland women’s basketball game, it’s hard to not notice the cheering section on the floor directly across from the Pilots’ bench.
Ruben Hinojos, a Marquis nurse for 19 years, offered a spare room to a young staff member, Jose, who had to travel three hours round-trip to attend college. Without hesitation, Ruben welcomed him to his home. Ruben believes in being selfless and helping others, seeing it as an opportunity to make a positive impact on the world. Although honored to be a Legend recipient, he feels there is nothing special about what he did and is committed to always taking the extra step to help others.
