1.    Who can apply for the Nursing Assistant Training Course?

Marquis provides a Nursing Assistant training class for people who want become certified as a Certified Nursing Assistant and then want to work with Marquis Companies. Our program is provided free to those who apply to work for Marquis and are committed to pursuing a career as a CNA in a Marquis facility. We do not have a public Nursing Assistant training class at this time. 

2.    What is expected of the candidate applying?

The primary responsibility of a candidate that is selected for the Nursing Assistant training class is to acquire the knowledge, skills and certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) by participation in the facility’s planned educational program. The program consists of classroom instructions, clinical practice and on-the-job, supervised training. 

3.    Do I need to have experience?

It is a very competitive program to get into and it is best to highlight any healthcare experience (paid or unpaid) you have on your application. If you don’t have any healthcare experience, you might consider spending some time volunteering in one of our facilities to gain some experience. 

4.    When are classes offered?

Our classes are offered every 5 weeks. The class will be in session during the work week, Monday thru Friday; classroom hours are 8:30AM-3:30PM, and clinicals from 7:00AM to 3:00PM.  

5.    Where are the classes offered?

Nursing Assistant training classes are offered at two of our locations, Marquis Care at Mt. Tabor which is located in SE Portland and Marquis Care at Hope Village located in Canby, OR. 

6.    How can I apply?

Under the tab, ‘CAREERS’ on the Marquis Companies website, you will see a link to ‘VIEW JOBS’. Choose ’OREGON’ as the State and under Job Category choose ‘CNA/CMA/Caregivers’.. From there, a list of Marquis Facilities who are hiring CNA’s will appear. Click on the location you wish to work at and follow the application process. 

7.     How do I know if my application was received?

After you complete your online application and ‘Submit’ it, you will receive notification on your computer screen that your application was received and will be reviewed. 

8.    How do I know if my application is being considered?

Those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted directly by the Staffing Director at the facility. The interview process also includes a skills assessment and a completion of a CNA questionnaire. If selected for this class, you must be able to provide legal documentation establishing your identity and eligibility to be legally employed in the United States; be willing to undergo a criminal background check and employment reference checks; and be at least 17 years of age. 

9.     Will I be notified if I’m not accepted into the class?

Yes.  You should receive an email notifying you that you were not selected.  Due to the large volume of applications we receive, we encourage you to apply again when the next class is open. 

10.  What happens after I successfully pass the class?

If you successfully pass the final exam and other evaluations, the facility that placed you in the class will work with you on your new work schedule; your pay will begin post graduation.  You will also be required to take the Oregon State Board of Nursing exam to become certified with the State of Oregon as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
